What are the best drills you would recommend, to improve a players shooting technique and accuracy? The best drill I could recommend for shooting technique is swat the fly. Having someone toss a ball up from about a yard away, and really focusing on your form when receiving the ball and your release point. What advice would you give a field lacrosse player, looking to play box? The best advice for a field player who wants to play box would be to be proactive and try and start at a young age. Box lacrosse is a difficult thing to teach because it is so much of a read and react game compared to a more scripted field game. Were there any other colleges you were seriously considering, before deciding on Ohio State? I wasn't recruited very much in high school, and was actually committed to Bellarmine University my junior year. I decomitted from Bellarmine realizing it wasn't the place for me and began the recruiting process all over again in my senior year. Thankfully Ohio State considered me, and I couldn't be more humbled by my decision to be a Buckeye. What does your wall ball routine consist of? When I go to the box on a regular day I really like to hit the boards as much as I can before I start shooting. Hitting the wall around a 100 times from different distances, and different release points really improves your hand speed, and hand eye coordination. What does your, "in season" diet consist of, and how do you feel it benefits you, as an athlete?I really learned the hard way when talking about my eating habits. In my senior year I really tried to eliminate eating out, or eating dairy. I was eating a lot of fruit and vegetables, as well as good proteins. The difference of how good of shape I was in was mind blowing, and I continue to try and eat healthy today. When did you first pick up a stick? I picked up a lacrosse stick for the first time when I was around 5 I believe. and to answer the next question of what inspired me, all of my friends were playing lacrosse and I truly felt left out! Who or what, inspired you to get into Lacrosse? What is your career, outside of Lacrosse? Outside of lacrosse I am a childcare provider at Happy Campers daycare. I really love interacting with children. As for the future, I want to play as much lacrosse as possible before applying to be a firefighter in my hometown. What is your current stick set up (head, mesh, shaft, tape placement, pocket style & type)? I am currently using an under armour vital head, and charge shaft. I tape the majority of my stick with a decent sized knob, and a little knob where my top hand sits. Im using a mid pocket with three straight shooters in east coast dyes blue stryker hero mesh. After college, did you continue to train the same way, or develop your own routine when moving on to NLL? I think its difficult to maintain the same training regimen after college. Theres a certain mindset you have when training with your team, and you never want to let anyone of your brothers down on the field. Now that I am mostly training by myself it is difficult to simulate that same feeling. However, learning to push yourself on your own can be a great test of character and self-discipline.

Regarding your work out regimen, do you focus more on cardio or weight /strength training (i.e, 40% cardio/60% weight training, etc.)? I like to workout a lot, and running is definitely something I am not to fond of. However, cardio is very important for any sport. I would say I try and keep it an even 50/50 balance, but sometimes I feel like working out more than running. What is one thing, that people would be surprised to learn, about Jesse King? I think one thing people would be surprised to learn about me is the fact that I live on an island off the coast of Vancouver. Victoria is on Vancouver Island, and in my opinion is the most beautiful place on earth.
