What made you decide to create a line of Lacrosse equipment ?

Immediately after graduating from Syracuse I was hired by Warrior Lacrosse. I was with them for 5 years; one of the years with the company I relocated and worked directly with Warriors lead designer. He was also my roommate while I was living in Michigan. During my time there I helped him with the design of the Blade head and really learned how a lacrosse head is built - start to finish. After Warrior, I went on to work for Nike for 5 years and was in many similar meetings during my time there. Again, learning product design, marketing, and manufacturing. These experiences where huge for my lacrosse product knowledge and when I received a 3 year contract extensions from Nike in 2013, I decided to turn it down as I felt it was time for me to go out and do this on my own. Couldn't be more proud to see my last name on the products; and I feel very good about each and every product we have launched with.

When did you begin developing your line?

This has been a work in progress. Not sure how much people know about this process, but it takes a long time especially if you want your product to be top of the industry and high end. I've been working on the line for over 2 years. If you count my research and knowledge building you could say that I've been working on this for over 14 years.

What was the reasoning behind the design/structure of the Powell Pioneer?

Cool look to it, light, accurate, semi stiff and strong ball control. These are the things that I was looking to accomplish and I feel very good about the first head Powell Lacrosse has brought to the lacrosse world.

What is your personal, favorite stringing pattern, for the Powell Pioneer?

I'm really digging a traditional pocket in my Pioneer - takes a bit longer to break in than mesh but long term my #1 stick is going to be sweet!

Will we see more products from Powell, in the near future?

Currently we have long poles and a goalie shaft in the works. You should see those available on our website within the next few months. The Trailblazer, our second head is about a month away. You can view the Trailblazer on our site now. That is about all that intel I would like to give away at the moment; We like to surprise people so I'm going to stay quite on a few other products we currently have in the works.

Where do you see Powell Lacrosse in the next 10 years?

I see Powell Lacrosse being a major player in the game. We will always be innovative and we will always be authentic. We look forward to having MLL, College, HS and Youth players around the world using our products. The future is Unwritten! What I do know is that we will give the lacrosse world everything we have to produce the very best lacrosse products.
