Lacrosse heads are selected by position and personal preferences such as; how much pinch, stiffness/flex and weight works for you and you playing style. Be sure that the head you choose, can accommodate your desired stringing patterns, too. For most of us, cost must be considered, as well.

Lets take a look at the STX Stallion U500 Head...

The Stallion U500, is an all around a great offensive head in my opinion. If I wasn’t a Face Off Midfielder, I would definitely be using this head for offensive play. My favorite feature is the wider scoop, which allows me to dominate in getting ground balls.

You'll notice on the side of the U500, the rectangular sidewall holes vs. most other heads with circlular sidewalls. (as shown left)

These sidewalls give you more accessibility when stringing while accommodating a wide array of unique patterns.

This U500 head is more flexible, compared to a defensive head, but is definitely still on the stiffer side, of comparable offensive heads.

I've noticed in the summer some heads seem to warp easily /get pinched in excessive heat, but this head maintained its shape in extreme weather conditions.

Nic’s Notes / Bottom line:

If you have the $110 to spend and are looking for quality, flexibility and durability, I would highly recommend the STX Stallion U500 head by STX and feel it is a great investment for all levels of offensive play-Nic
